11th Annual Babcock Institute / World Dairy Expo Short Course

The Babcock Institute was happy to host more than 50 visitors from 14 different countries during the World Dairy Expo Short Course.

Visitors participated in a three-day short course centered around talks from University of Wisconsin faculty. Accompanying the talks were hands-on workshops addressing embryo transfer, ultrasound, and milk quality testing. Participants also visited two local dairy farms, Larson Acres and Spring Grove Dairy, where they saw first-hand how the Wisconsin dairy industry operates. These combined experiences are designed to allow participants to compare Wisconsin farms to farms in their own countries and give them new ideas to better enhance their dairy industries. The World Dairy Expo Short Course is presented in both English and Spanish. Not only is this course a good source of current dairy expertise, it is also a excellent networking opportunity. Attendees have an opportunity to learn new ideas from University of Wisconsin professors, as well as from their classmates from countries around the world. The 2008 course was a great success and all participants felt that they gained skills and learned techniques that will help to improve their dairy industries.
